Blue Skies Pet Care has provided trusted professional pet care as a locally owned small business in the Newton area since 2010. We are hiring compassionate, responsible team members for dog walking, pet sitting, and other in-home pet care services, as well as team leads for additional hands-on and office support.
Current Priority Openings
Part-time Pet Caregivers can choose from shifts available 7 days a week. Applicants must offer availability for at least 4 shifts per week.
- Morning: 6:00 AM–3:00 PM
- Evening: 3:00 PM–10:00 PM
Some flexibility with start or end times may be possible. Scheduling is based on both client demand and team availability, so offered shifts are not guaranteed every week.

Pet care hours vary with client demand. Additional paid work may be available during slower periods for candidates who want a fuller schedule.
Build a full-time schedule with benefits around a 3-day core workweek, with additional hours available based on your availability.

- Sunday: 6:00 AM–3:00 PM required; evening shift optional
- Monday: 3:00–10:00 PM required; morning shift optional

Full-time Team Leads are also eligible for paid time off, sick leave, and health, dental, and vision insurance, subject to eligibility requirements and waiting periods.

The Realities of Professional Pet Care
Professional pet care is meaningful, fun work- but it is still real work. A typical day may include:
- Driving between homes and working outdoors in Kansas heat, cold, wind, rain, or snow
- Caring for pets who may be messy, nervous, vocal, strong, or unpredictable
- Working independently and adapting when schedules, pets, or client needs change
- Being available during some of our busiest times, including weekends, holidays, summers, and school breaks
Our clients trust us with members of their family. Pets depend on us for meals, medications, exercise, potty breaks, comfort, and safety, so reliability, good judgment, and follow-through matter every day.
Compensation and Benefits
Part-Time Pet Caregivers typically earn $13-$16/hour with tips, with a base wage of $12-$14/hour.
Full-Time Pet Care Team Leads typically earn $15-$17/hour with tips, with a base wage of $12.50-$15/hour. Depending on schedule and client tipping, some Team Leads earn more.
Team members may also receive:
- Tax-exempt mileage reimbursement between visits

Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Live in Harvey County, preferably Newton, North Newton, or Hesston
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Have a reliable, insured vehicle
- Have a smartphone with dependable data service
- Be comfortable with pets of different sizes and breeds
- Be punctual, organized, trustworthy, and professional
- Work independently and make sound decisions
- Meet the physical demands of walking, bending, lifting, and working around noise and odors
- Be willing to make a minimum 12-month commitment
